Get Treatment for Sports Injuries in Coventry

If you’re struggling with sports injuries, you’ve probably tried various remedies like ice and rest, but may still find it difficult to return to your previous performance level. We have seen this often, particularly with long-lasting ankle injuries where athletes lose strength in their ankle after an injury because they rested without doing proper rehab. This can lead to further issues in the knees, hips, and lower back, severely limiting one’s potential in sports.

Common Sports Injuries

Common injuries we see include ankle injuries, knee ligament injuries, shoulder injuries, rotator cuff tears, and lower back injuries from specific movements. Recently, I treated an athlete with a recurring hamstring injury that first occurred during a sprint in football. He was advised to rest for a set period depending on the severity but reinjured it soon after returning to the sport. This sidelined him for an entire season, affecting his pre-season and performance since.

Upon assessment, we discovered a severe lack of strength and control in his movements, affecting his knee and hip stability. By targeting these issues, he is now back in the first team, scoring goals for his football club, and is extremely happy with his progress.

Ankle pain and lateral ankle sprains are also common in rugby and football. Many athletes assume their ankle will recover quickly without proper treatment, but this can lead to chronic issues requiring weekly taping and still not achieving the desired performance level. Addressing proprioceptive control and balance is crucial for full recovery.

By understanding the injury and other contributing factors, we can create a holistic treatment plan. This approach helps athletes reach their full potential, compete effectively, and possibly push for higher levels in their sport.
